The Millhouse is a beautifully converted 19th-century mill house set directly on the banks of the River Nore in Bennettsbridge, just ten minutes from Kilkenny City. The open-plan living space combines a fully equipped kitchen, dining area for six, and a sitting room with a wood-burning stove and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the water below.
Upstairs, three bedrooms sleep up to six guests: a super-king master with en-suite and river views, a twin room, and a family room with a double and single bed, served by a second bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Outside, a private, part-walled garden runs down to the river's edge, with a dining terrace, outdoor seating, and off-street parking for two cars. A short stroll takes you into the village for a pint by the water; Kilkenny City's restaurants, shops and medieval streets are a ten-minute drive away.
Access to the front door is via three stone steps with a handrail on one side; there is no ramp access. The ground floor (kitchen, living room, one bathroom) is level throughout once inside. Bedrooms and the second bathroom are upstairs via a narrow, traditional staircase — not suitable for those with limited mobility. The garden path to the river is gravel and can be uneven after rain.
Bennettsbridge is a small riverside village on the River Nore, best known for its craft studios, the Nore Valley Park, and easy access to the Kilkenny greenway walking and cycling trail. Kilkenny City — with its castle, medieval lane, restaurants and shops — is a ten-minute drive, and Thomastown and Inistioge are both close by for further exploring.
